Let's face it, Godzilla is a terrifying monster no matter how much you defend the character. He's an icon of Japanese cinema and many of those in their thirties and forties will remember watching those classic Godzilla movies imported from Japan where a guy in a lizard-monster suit romps over a miniature city to do battle against another monster that's destroying everything in its path. Of course, Godzilla pretty much adds to the mayhem, even as he sort of helps out. That's Godzilla! The appeal of Godzilla is phenomenal. Perhaps it's the idea of a giant fire-breathing lizard walking through city streets that's thrilling to viewers. It's scary and horrifying to think about, but getting a famous city like Tokyo thrashed (or saved) by something people had no control of could be part of the answer. You would simply be awed by the possibilities. Fortunately, Godzilla actually saves the day in the end. He's a good giant lizard-monster after all!
